Check how the Cuban streets look today. This is the land of old-timers, communism, revolutions, monuments, social security, relative poverty and all the other memories to the different world view.

Streets are full of the cars like this. Some of them are 50 or 60 years old. Cuban people are very capable and competent to all kinds of repairs. They even produce new, non - original, parts for these cars and by their hands, fix them. American embargo refers to the all life aspects.

Cubans don't care which color of skin do you have. They also don't pay attention to your religion. There is a real freedom of religion, unline many earlier communistic countries. Here you can see black hands driving a car. It doesn't matter are you black or white, Hispanic or African, but very probably, if you are Cuban, you will be relative poor.

Cubans love street arts and every kind of fun, in front of their house. Unlike capitalistic countries, they still didn't lose the feeling of companionship and friendship.

Here you can see one of the government buildings. Some of them look very pretty, but in front of them, you can feel the communistic spite.

Streets are not repaired since 70's. Cubans don't have all the products which are enough for their normal life. They have to import some of them, but it's not possible, because of embargo.

The typical paving stone, made by hands, you can see here. Asphalt is sometimes a luxury there.

Ugly buildings, typical for communistic states, exist also here, in Cuba. But, the reason for that is their price, it's cheaper to build the building like this. None of the Cubans like them.

You can rent a taxi without a motor, for couple of cucs or dollars. But, pay attention to Cuban currency. There is a double currency, one for domestics and one for the tourists, which is 24 times more valuable. The prices are same in numbers, but it's not possible to pay in Cuban currency for domestics.

Little pionirs have the same spirit and temperament like Yugoslavian ones. It wakes up the nostalgia in me. It was the nice period of our lives, but unfortunately, Cuba is not so developed, like Yugoslavia in 70's and 80's. Embargo is the only reason.

Here you can see unhappy faces, working on the tailors machines. Sometimes, these people don't hope that will ever be better.

Children are running, as they would miss something. Lazy and relaxed atmosphere is visible everywhere.

Women that are dancing here, earn their money like this. Some of them are widows.

Later on, they go to the cemetary of their husbands. Fidel Castro said that he is a Christian in his soul, and sometimes he visits the graves with them. Some women's husbands died as politically prisoners, some of them because of other reasons.

Gambling is allowed here, but it's not recommended. These men are only playing cards, without the money.

Old crafts are still developed in Cuba. They don't have technology, but they have the people. People are sometimes not enough.

Smoking the Cuban cigarettes are tradition. These days, there is story that it will not be possible anymore, because regular rations will be closed.

Probably, if the American policy doesn't change, these people will live of revolution and memories. I am suspicious that it's possible.

These people wait for their rations of food. Sometimes I am wondering why every country has to have a democracy, if they simply don't want it. This is one reason more because I think that some of the democracies are fake.

Mirza, your photoblog made me happy that communism is not anymore in my country. I hope Cuba will reach democracy one day, not so long from today, too.
Radka, thank you for the comment. I understand why do you say that, but democracy is not always the only option. For example, many poor countries are democratic, and even Russia is officially democratic country. System is not always the issue, sometimes it’s influence from abroad, misuse of the state policy, etc. I would rather say that social democracy is better option for Cuba, with all the values from today, and without the American pressure. In that case, I am sure they would be better society.
Of course in European eastern countries it’s not the case, cause that countries were totally different.
It’s not up to the system, but to the human nature.
