Dear friends,

last year I partiticipated in an unique and brilliant event organized by ASEFUAN. It was a fantastic event, where I had the opportunity to meet many European and South Asian young people, make new friends, and discover new cultures, traditions, and ideas. That's why I want to share with you, hopefully someone among you will live my same experience this year! smile Good luck!

Final Call for Applications: 16th ASEF University "Public Health and Vulnerable
Groups"

The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) and the Medical University of Lodz
(UMED) are pleased to invite qualified young individuals from Asia and
Europe to participate in the sixteenth edition of the ASEF University
"Public Health and Vulnerable Groups: Access to Quality Health Services",
to be held from 29 June to 10 July 2010 in the Republic of Poland.

Participants will have the opportunity to share their knowledge and views
on specific health-based topics of relevance for both regions. They will
explore possible approaches to tackle the barriers to health disparities
in
a way which encourages and acknowledges their participation. The programme
will include, among others, discussions on public health issues from a
multi-perspective approach - and mainly aims to empower the participants
to:

1. Understand public health issues and challenges from the perspectives of
Asia and Europe
2. Promote discussion on how reducing barriers to quality healthcare
services can be addressed
3. Encourage young people to play an active role in promoting better
health

ASEF University participants are usually not more than 25 years old and
should preferably be in their final undergraduate year or first graduate
year.  Successful applicants should have strong academic credentials and
established leadership skills through involvement in extra-curricular
activities. The programme would generally benefit students of
International
relations, Asian and European Studies, Development Studies, Public Health,
Medicine, Human Rights, Economics & Finance, Political and Social
Sciences.

The ASEF University is open to university students from the 43 ASEM
countries*. ASEF and UMED will finance accommodation and meals, as well as
the official cultural programme throughout the event. In addition, each
participant shall receive a 50% travel subsidy (airfare, trains, bus,
etc.)
with a cap of 250 EUR for participants coming from Europe, and 500 EUR for
those coming from Asia.  Please visit
http://www.asef.org/index.php?option=com_project&task=view&id=604 for the
