For example in Nicaragua and in Honduras there has been lack of food this year, because of the dryness. Is this due to climate change? Maybe it is. How to prevent hunger while there is climate change, is another question.
Yesterday (19th of August) it was the World Humanitarian Day .
The World Food Programme is helping those in need, for example a massive feeding campaign in drought-stricken Niger got started in a small village east of the capital where people came from miles around to receive food rations for their families. Read more about the work in here.
And even in the developed countries those who are the most poor struggle with their lives and their way of life. Even if you have money for food, if you’re poor you’re most likely to buy nurriture that is no good for you.
This way it is very likely that poor people have problems with their health.
There is also another kind of problem. Even when you get more with less money, for example fries and hamburger with the prize of the burger (the meal is actually in some cases less expensive) who would buy just the burger, even though it would be healthier not to eat too much at the same time?!
The graphic images have the most powerful deterrent effect on youth. It is one of the recommendations of the World Health Organization’s framework Convention on Tobacco Control (FCTC) which demands the 168 signatories, like the Philippines, to “implement large, rotating health warnings on all tobacco packaging and labeling”. Already 38 countries have implemented the picture-based warnings and the 27 member European Union has recommended each member to implement it.
No wonder in France they’re pissed off when the McDonald’s publicity uses the characters or Asterix the comic strip.

Still, I feel that maybe the publicity made by McDonald’s is not the biggest problem, while there is 1 billion hungry people in this world.

Hi Muusa, seems you are the only one who mentioned the World Humanitarian Day
.
I don’t know how viable are the statistics I heard on the radio the other day (last week) that the majority of McDonald’s customers who order a hamburger, asked if they want to take fries along with the burger, they go for the meal. Indeed, the more you eat the hungrier you get and this tendency is extremely important while talking about developmental issues.
