Published 18th August 2010 - 2 comments - 1700 views -

I am associated with TED conferences as one of the african inviTED Fellow  at "Africa the next Chapter", I was also selected TEDFellow at "The Great Unveiling" in 2009. Proud,  I am undeniably the first Malagasy to take TED stage and become a TED fellow through the TED fellowship program.

TED is the acromym of Technology Entertainment and Design. TED conferences are organized for individuals to be challenged by excellent speakers presenting new ideas in eighteen minute speeches . If you attend TED conference or watch TEDtalks online, then there are more chances that you will see some remarkable world's leaders who have given TED talks include my friend Web Guru Ethan Zuckerman, Google founders Larry Page and Sergey Brin,Twitter co-founder Evan Williams , US President Bill Clinton, Nobel Prize Al Gore and more.

Last year in Long Beach, CA, at TED2009, on a wonderful gathering of people sharing extraordinary ideas, I was in front of TED stage when Bill gates releases mosquitoes into the auditorium and says: "No reason poor people are the only ones who should experience it". You can watch his TEDtalk on mosquitoes, malaria and education online. worth your time smile

Chris & Bill

Bill Gates and TED Curator Chris Anderson

Whether you admire or despise Bill Gates I respect him and what he has done. Not just because He single handedly took down IBM in the personal computing arena against every conceivable obstacle but for his vision of Zero carbon emissions globally by 2050 and his day to day  engagement to help make positive change all around the world.

On 20th of September 2010, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, which has a parallel vision to the UN’s MDG, decided to co-host with TED a TEDxChange event on the 10th anniversary of the MDG commandment.  TEDx  is a program of local, self-organized events all other the world.  This TEDx will reflect on the MDG achievements that happened during the last 10 years and what still needs to be done. All of this will be under the slogan “The Future We Make”

This event can be attended via Internet  - RSVP can be done on Facebook to take part in the live TEDxChange webcast. The speakers will be from across the community, thinkers & doers who are contributing with changes that reflect in a way or another on the MDG, and to the wellbeing of humanity.
