Music and Environment

Contents of the paper bag (three plastic bottles, three cans, three magazines and newspapers) I have submitted for recycling as an exchange for the ticket for today's Supernatural Festival in Belgrade. In the country where small proportion of the garbage is recycled, and recycling bins are rarely available, this kind of popularizing action is highly welcome.  The organizers write on the web site:
Supernatural  festival in nature, is a multimedia artistic project, which brings together people of all ages, where the music and other forms of art get people closer to the environmental problems of today, as well as solutions and new ideas for sustainable development such as recycling, renewable energy, and healthy lifestyle.
This way, Supernatural tends to make a positive influence on the collective consciousness of people regarding the importance of a healthy and pure way of life - in harmony with nature.

In the previous days, five thousand people obtained free tickets through recycling.

I find this festival (organized for the fourth time) lively and original, as well as a good method for raising awareness of the issue, especially among the young. However, it could improve some of the features. For example, providing recyclable plastic glasses, since in the way it has been organized so far, a mountain of used plastic glasses is by-product of the supposedly environment-friendly event. And things could be done differently. I still have nicely designed glass from Forum Barcelona 2004. The idea was very simple: You either pay additional 50c every time you have next drink, or keep a glass and just pay for the drink.

Opportunities for growing and learning always exist. I hope Supernatural will seek and use them.

Sounds like great, but in the same time sad because of lack of recycling..

This initiative is great: raising awareness thanks to concerts! smile
I believe that the best way to incentivate, at least at the beginning, is to offer something in exchange of recycible material. I remember that in the Italian city of Rimini, the municipality used to give some “points” in exchange of a certain amount of plastic or paper to be recycled. And at the end of the year, you can get something thanks to the point that you have collected, usually something like plants, flowers, etc. smile And this initiative had great impact on the awareness of the local population!
