In the TH!NK about it project we talk so much about development issues, its various aspects, problems and ways to achieve it. But what if we reverse it for a moment and have a look at people who, at least in theory, are granted access to all these conveniences of life in modern society: food and water, education, health care, housing and electricity. The only thing is that they do not make any use of it. On the contrary, they lead their lives as this all meant nothing, as if it was given for granted so no respect or attention has to be given to it..
Why do I write about it? My friend works in a law company dealing mostly with debt collecting. In his work he meets all kinds of people: from those who lost job and can no longer pay for their third car taken with a credit to those who truly do not understand how ruthless market is and ruin themselves with bad investments or simply through buying too many goods they cannot afford. However, generalizing is of no use as it hides real people and their dramas behind a slogan or a label…
Just when I see photos like those below where people who had a flat, access to water and electricity, everything that we discuss here so much, and they lost it, ruined it, I am just wondering what is the reason and what went here so wrong…
