I have to confess I dislike spams. Strongly. When they arrive into my inbox I immediately press the magic button DELETE.
This morning came this one which surprisingly was not offering jewellery, IT products or medical preparatives.
Un-known spam author says:
If we could reduce population of Earth to one little village that would have exactly 100 inhabitants keeping present global situation, it would look like:
59 Asians
21 Europeans
12 Americans (both Northern and Southern)
8 Africans
52 would be females
48 males
30 white
70 non-white
30 Christians
70 non-Christians
6 people would possess 59% of wealth of the village and 6 of them (yes, 6 out of 6) would be from North America.
80 people out of 100 would live in indecent conditions.
70 could not read
50 would suffer from bad nutrition
1 would be dying
1 would be about to be born
1 (yes, only 1) would be a university graduate
1 (yes, only 1) would own a computer
If you woke up this morning feeling healthy, then you are luckier than millions of people that would not live until the end of this week.
If you have never faced war threat, imprisonment, torture or malnutrition, then you are ahead of 500 millions of people in the world.
If you have food in your fridge, clothes in your wardrobe and a bed to sleep in, you are richer than 75% of world population.
If you have some money in the bank, in your wallet and some coins on your table, you belong into 8% of the richest people in this world.
If both your parents are still alive and not divorced, you are a very unusual person.
If you read this message you have been blessed twice – somebody thinks of you and you are more lucky than 2 000 000 0000 of people who can not read.
Do you realize what you have got and do you cherish that?
Nice summary of MDG transferred into a very digestible and understandable form. I wish more people received this and realized differences in the world…..

Well, I wouldn’t mind if spams like this were spread more often…
Thanks for posting this Radka. As you said, it explains the problem in such a simple way. Any chance of getting it seen by even more people - emailing it to everyone you know, and getting them to do the same?
Lara, I am working on it, no worries. You are more them welcome to join this inititive
.
Spam reaches a lot of people, including those who usually do not think about stuff like that. So it’s very smart to raise awareness this way!
Surely more than 1 in 6 North Americans own a computer? I read that it was something like 75%.
Justin, will check it out.
Justin,
you were right, my apology for a mistake.
In 2000, about 60 percent of US households owned at least one personal computer. Also nearly every business in the nation, from hospitals to accounting firms and airports has implemented computer systems to handle many of its daily operations.
